Bored

#BelieveInMyself - 3

Bored? I never consider that I have boring expirences and stuffs, even waiting for the line didn't make me feel bored. There's always something I can overcome it by exploring my smartphone. Browsing the internet, surfing Youtube, playing some mobile games, like Brawl Stars (for 3 years) and Clash of Clans (8 years!), and watching my favorite films and animes for hours. That's why I never feel bored and it keeps me excited!

I've been playing Clash of Clans for 8 years! lol

Knowing this part, it also indicates that I used to avoid doing tasks that are less excited, like reading books, doing exercise, meditating, and actually working on goals.  Somehow what I did here was not right. I should focus more doing these tasks, instead of looking another amusements.

This phenomenon has been studied by researchers and the main root cause is the fact that our brain tends to look for more excited activities that gives instant gratification and generates more dopamine hormones (the pleasure feeling).

Firstly, it's true that we will always seek instant gratification, like watching our favorite video, playing games together with your friends so you can yell at them, and anything that entertains us. I mean, who's in the world will disagree with this.

But keep ourself entertained without doing actual works towards goal is equal as dreaming. It's because our dopamine level has been kept to be so high for a long time, that we don't like doing any low dopamine activities, even it's important for us.

After the root cause is identified, the correct solution is lower our dopamine level, by less entertaining ourselves a.k.a staying away from your smartphone. It will be more boring than ever, because we are actually lowering the dopamine level.  However after getting used to this level, then anything important tasks (that is previously hard to do because it's less excited) became easier to do.

I applied this principle to my life and I can see how much I have been improved in this year (2020), by keeping myself less entertained and start doing toward the goal. The results are great. I have started doing "One book per month" challenge and the streak keeps to continue, doing exercise and my body was getting shaped, meditating and I feel better every day, and so on. It's a real proof from me.

It's way more important for us, to do towards the goals rather than entertainig ourselves. Of course, getting closer to our goals gives us more pleasure than any instant gratifications.
